RE: APPOINTMENT OF ELECTION COMMITTEE
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In accordance with the Bylaws of Transport Workers Union of America, Local 512, in November in each third year, an Election Committee will be appointed by the Local Executive Board to oversee the nomination and election for the offices of President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and three (3) Executive Board Members (in accordance with Article XIV, Section 8, of the Transport Workers Union Constitution – 2013 Edition).
Also, in accordance with Local 512 Bylaws, ballots for the election to these offices are to be mailed to all members in good standing no later than January 20th, 2018, to be counted on February 13th, 2018. New officers will assume office on March 1, 2018.
The following members of Local 512 have been appointed to serve as the Election Committee:

This bulletin constitutes official notification of nomination and election of Local 512 Union Officers and Executive Board Members.
The election of the President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer and three (3) Executive Board Members (in accordance with Article XIV, Section 8 of the Transport Workers Union Constitution – 2013 Edition) of Local 512 will take place between January 20 and February 12, 2018, by secret mail ballot.
The elected Officers and Executive Board Members will assume office on March 1, 2018, for a term of three (3) years.
1.A member to be eligible for nomination and election to any office shall be a member in good standing in accordance with the Constitution of the Transport Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO, and the Bylaws of Local 512.
2.Nominations shall be by petition, either in slate form or for individual office.
3.Listing on the ballot will be determined by the number of signatures on the nominating petition.

4.Nominations shall require signatures of a minimum of five (5) percent of members in good standing. Note: current membership is approximately 1,335 (1,335 x 5% = 67).

NOTE: PETITIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH ORIGINAL SIGNATURES; COPIES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
6.All questions or requests pertaining to the election must be submitted in writing and addressed to the Election Committee at the Local Union’s above address.
7.Ballots will be mailed to members in good standing by January 20, 2018 and must be received in the designated post office box not later than Midnight, February 12, 2018.
8.The ballots will be removed from the post office box at approximately 0900 on February 13th, and the vote count will take place immediately thereafter.
