Dear Brothers and Sisters:
First of all, I would like to welcome you to our new website. As we move forward, we understand communication is critical to our membership, as well as our retirees. We have the ability to reach out to our members and retirees through our established Facebook page, quarterly Local 512 Newsletter, Local 512 website, and as always, our general membership meetings. We are dedicating pages on our new website to topics that will provide contact information and resources to assist and support our membership and retirees.
I know the membership expects updates from their President, and rightfully so. The AMR bankruptcy filing and 1113c process though has changed the way I would normally update the membership. Based on advice from our International and TWU legal counsel, all communications need to be vetted through legal so as not to possibly impact the 1113c process. Again, I am requesting that all of you sign up on the AA.TWU.org website for all of the latest updates and information pertaining to the AMR bankruptcy that we can legally share with you at this time. You can literally have these updates sent by e-mail or text. All updates will also be posted on this website as well.
At this time, we were unable to reach a consensual agreement with American Airlines. It is disappointing and unfortunate yet we will continue to strive to reach a consensual deal. With that said, we are scheduled to go to trial in the 2nd District Federal Bankruptcy Court in New York City starting April 23, 2012. It is important that we all pay serious attention to the updates and the eventual outcome of AMR’s bankruptcy filing in that it will impact all of our futures.
The TWU Local 512 website will continue to be your main resource for up to date information. Your union officers, section chairmen, and stewards at the field and downline stations are also receiving updates from the hall through various forms of communication. Full debriefs will only be able to be provided at general membership meetings as this is the proper forum for open dialogue in a union “closed shop” setting. At this crucial time, it is imperative that you educate yourself by providing your current home address, e-mail and phone number to the hall. Don’t miss out on information that could possibly impact your future. It is your responsibility to make sure the hall has the most up to date information. You can provide your information right here on this website. If you should have any questions, please call the hall.
Fraternally,
Sean P. Doyle
President, T.W.U. Local 512
