This afternoon, the Company informed TWU Local 512 that the Federal Aviation Administration temporarily grounded all Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. "The grounding will remain in effect pending further investigation, including examination of information from the aircraft's flight data recorders and cockpit voice recorders," the FAA said in a statement. The decision was a result of new evidence found from the crash site.
American operates 24 MAX 8 aircraft, and the majority of the flying is in/out of the Miami hub. The Company is working on rerouting aircraft throughout the system to avoid a significant impact on its Miami Hub. We will see minimal disruption at ORD as the Company tries to work through this situation. Safety should be our number one concern in the air and on the ground.
